Q: What ages do you accept at Kinderhaus?

Kinderhaus welcomes children from 0 to 5 years old. We offer a mixed-age, home-based setting that supports children at different developmental stages and allows them to learn naturally from one another in a calm and nurturing environment.

Q: How many children do you care for?

Kinderhaus is currently licensed as a Small Family Child Care Home and cares for up to six children. Over the coming months, we plan to transition to a Large Family Child Care license, which will allow care for up to twelve children, while maintaining a high-quality, personal, and well-structured environment.

Q: How much time do children spend outdoors?

Outdoor time is an essential part of our daily rhythm. Children go outside at least twice a day, spending a minimum of one hour each time, weather permitting. Mornings often include walks to the park, while afternoons offer outdoor play in our garden, with flexibility to move between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Q: How do you handle rest time and naps?

Kinderhaus includes a midday rest period as part of the daily rhythm. Children are invited to rest or nap according to their individual needs. No child is ever forced to sleep. Children who do not fall asleep are supported with quiet, restful activities in a calm environment.

Martina, Teacher

Hi, I’m Martina, founder of Kinderhaus Silicon Valley.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Germany and am a certified Waldorf teacher with a background in systemic coaching.

I truly enjoy working with young children and supporting them as they grow, learn, and develop in their own unique way.

Nature, mindfulness, and healthy living are an important part of my everyday life and shape the calm, nurturing atmosphere I create for children and families.

My goal is simple: to offer a warm, thoughtful place where children feel safe, seen, and free to grow in their own rhythm.

I look forward to getting to know you and welcoming your family to Kinderhaus.

Hi, I’m Melody.

Originally from Germany, I’ve been living in California since 2019 and bring over six years of childcare experience. I work alongside Martina at Kinderhaus Silicon Valley and also support children as a German Teacher’s Assistant at a German Saturday School in Campbell.

I enjoy guiding children through everyday learning and play and supporting their confidence, independence, and social-emotional development in a calm and nurturing environment.

Mornings

Arrival & Free Play
Our day begins with a calm and welcoming arrival. Children settle in gently and choose their own activities. Free play supports independence, creativity, and meaningful connections.

Breakfast
We enjoy a shared breakfast together. Sitting at the table creates a warm moment of connection and helps children start the day peacefully.

Morning Circle
Through songs, simple rituals, and conversations, we build community and rhythm. Morning circle brings structure and a sense of belonging.

Outdoor Time
Time outdoors is part of our daily rhythm. Children explore nature, move their bodies, and experience the world with all their senses.

Afternoons

Lunch
Lunch is a calm and shared moment. We eat together in a relaxed atmosphere, encouraging healthy habits and social interaction.

Rest Time
After lunch, the day slows down. Children rest according to their individual needs and recharge in a peaceful environment.

Creative Time & Play
In the afternoon, children engage in creative activities and open-ended play. The focus is on process, joy, and self-expression.

Outdoor Time
We go outside every afternoon, either to the playground or into our backyard. When appropriate, children may choose between indoor and outdoor activities, supporting individual needs and rhythms.

Kinderhaus Daycare Cost & Fees

Tuition is charged monthly and varies by age and selected care option. Fees are year-round to provide consistency and a secure place for each child.

Enrollment is possible throughout the year based on availability. Start dates and care options are discussed individually to find the best fit for your family.

Ages & Group Size
We care for children from infancy through preschool age in a small, mixed-age group. Group sizes are intentionally limited to ensure individual attention and close relationships.

Kinderhaus is a small, home-based daycare located in a quiet neighborhood, with a park just around the corner and a beautiful backyard. Children spend a significant part of their day outdoors, experiencing nature, movement, and a calm daily rhythm.

Our program offers bilingual care in German and English and is inspired by Montessori, Waldorf, and Reggio Emilia approaches. Mindfulness is an important part of our day through gentle transitions, moments of calm, simple breathing exercises, and child-friendly yoga. The environment is thoughtfully designed using natural materials, wooden furniture, and soft, neutral tones that support focus and well-being.

Healthy nutrition is a central part of daily life at Kinderhaus. We provide balanced, freshly prepared meals, whenever possible in organic quality, and take care of the full daily nutrition to support children’s well-being and to ease families’ everyday routines. Our goal is to create a calm, healthy, and nurturing space where children feel comfortable exploring and growing at their own pace.

How is language supported during the day? What if my child speaks only English, only German, or another language?

Each educator consistently speaks one language only—one German and one English—providing clear and authentic language models. Language development happens naturally through everyday interaction, without pressure or formal instruction.

Children do not need to speak German or English to join Kinderhaus. We warmly welcome children from all language backgrounds. Language exposure happens naturally through daily routines, play, and interaction. We are also happy to support families with tips and ideas on how to gently encourage German or English at home, if desired.
